| The Lantern Festival |
| Chinese New Year starts with the new Moon on the first day of the new year and ends with the full moon 15 days later. People decorate their houses with fruit and flowers. Good wishes written on red paper are hung on the walls. Parades are held on the last night. People take to the streets holding lanterns, for a huge parade led by a giant dragon! |
| A Family Affair |
| New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are celebrated with family. Everyone dresses in their best clothes and new shoes. It is customary to give small gifts to each other, it is often coins or currency in red envelopes. Houses are cleaned meticulously to escape bad luck for the new year. |
| Bring the Party Home! |
| Clean up, dress up, and order takeout. Have a family dinner complete with fortune cookies. Decorate the house with flowers, fruit and lanterns. Don't forget the dragon! |
